Become a sponsor
Thank you for your interest in becoming a sponsor to the 3rd Annual Matagorda Bay Birdfest (MBF)! Each year, the festival has continued to grow and make a positive impact on our community and friends both near and far.
Some of the highlights from 2019 are an increase in on-line registrations by a whopping 85%, an increase in local attendance at the Parade of Birds, and an increase in the general size of the parade. We were also able to add more boat tours which sold out and were a smashing success! The keynote dinner, held in the new Palacios Pavilion, also sold out. Chef Mayberry from Austin put together a stunning menu using mostly locally procured food, and keynote speaker Andy Sansom charmed the crowd with his personal account of conservation work in Texas. It was indeed a memorable evening for all.
One of the main aims of the MBBF is to encourage participation among area youth. Last year, the Youth Art Contest drew over 250 entries. The youths Art on the American Oystercatcher is featured in Cornell’s Bird Sleuth Magazine. Also in 2019, a bird photography contest was added that drew interest and award winning entries. And last, but certainly not least, a well-attended book signing was held featuring artist and author Margie Crisp.
This year we are proud to say we have achieved our 501 c3 status as MARSH (Matagorda Area Response for Sustainable Habitat), of which MBBF is an outreach program.
It will be our pleasure to share this success with you as we continue the Matagorda Bay Birdfest’s mission of using science and the arts to connect people, birds, and nature. With your partnership we can make this year’s event a success!
These are exciting times, and we hope you can support our efforts in 2020 for the 4th Annual MBBF to be held March 27, 28, and 29.
